Comment: Here is a gemological rarity: Finest peridot with ludwigite needles, a mineral found in perdidot only from the Himalaya region of Pakistan (high high up). Peridot-ludwigite crystals are also sought after by mineral collectors. Normally they are not found in facet quality, however, this peridot (and the others from the same mine-run) come in finest color and free of inclusions. The needles have a most charming visual effect. As we know it from rutilated topaz, the needles float inside the gem and scatter when seen through the facets (see side and back images). This is finest apple green peridot in rare size. The needles convey a message nature's beauty from the time when the Himalaya was young.
