Overall Grade: Very Good

Comment: The most famous of all cat's eye varieties comes from chrysoberyl (also found with colour change and then called 'alexandrite cat's eye'). This 2+ carat stone shows a classic yellow-green hue with a silver shimmer. Unlike most of its kind the ray here does not need a single light source but shows even in diffused day light, for example in the handshot with no torch around (hence the different shade). See the 'no-ray-image' to understand its fine silky hue and translucent crystal. There is a little extra to discover: With the torch shining under the right angle into the stone, and only then as shown in our main image, another line appears, which upon closer inspection under the lens turns out to be a twinned crystal plane dividing the stone in one brighter and one darker part. This makes an interesting study for the gem lover, if not immediately visible. No over-weight belly, flat in the back and with perfect proportions. This is a great ring-stone, famous and full of magic since the beginning of human history.
