Overall Grade: Good

Comment: From the same parcel as all our color-change/-shift rhodolites, though IGI didn't mention the swaying between deep purple and red. GIA reported on these special rhodolites here. The very deep purple, of Medium Dark 80, hides its inclusions from the eye's view, only the lens will show details. Always red/purple, never black. The cut is not 100% round but this becomes visible only under closer inspection, the maximum deviation of diameter being 0.09mm, a normal hair's width, which could be rounded by a bezel setting. Not a perfect gem in our books, but all natural, with no treatments and no window. A bargain for a gem as pretty as many more expensive rubies, even the treated ones.
