Overall Grade: Good

Comment: Cabochon-quality ruby facetted into a roundish oval gem (appr. 9x9mm). If it were a transparent we would probably have a window-problem but the opaque crystal gives us only color in the center. The camera, as in most Winza rubies, picks-up violet color zones but the eye does not, lens or no. As the price may tell, this is not our usual quality but sneaked in with a 'no heat' and 'translucent' report which is always a good item to store, cabochon or facet quality. A combination of the distanced hand-shot below and the main image presents its body color best. The close-ups bring out too much violet fluorescence. In the distanced handshot you see what you get: a nice red gem with some purple as secondary hue. No black, no pink either. At $700/ct this is a value deal, an opportunity to own a three carat plus unheated, untreated ruby for a full sized center-gem. Will join yellow, white gold or rose. Let us work-out a design.
