Comment: Other than the 'old' and famous Bekily garnets, these latest Tanzanian gems vary in their CC spectrum. IGI graded this 1.15 as 'green' to 'brown'. True, there is no blue in the daylight color, only a fresh bright green (a rarity in this context), but tungsten light brings out much more than brown as the images show and the eye confirms. Perhaps a Bordeaux red but not brown. Check for example the image with two opposing light sources hitting the gem from each side: Clearly red on one side, not brown, and some green on the other. Interesting, too, in the side image below, a horizontal layer of green in the red, not an inclusion in the classical sense (we have a rare 'free of inclusions' here), but a layer of different chemical composition changing the hue in one slice (though invisible from the front, BTW). Other than most, this garnet is brightly toned, MD60, allowing it to sparkle even in low light environment. No window, no inclusions, no treatments. This is a good gem for those who are intimidated by the frequent warnings that CC gems are not for beginners, need long study, are a hard to understand etc.. This gem is easier to access thanks to its bright tone (always daytime green, as in the IGI image) and the easy swing to Bordeaux red. Perhaps it is the lack of blue that causes this simplifiying effect. I'll keep it in mind. The plain color-wheel added below is not meant to insult your basic schooling but to make a quick visual check easier.
