Comment: If I didn't know better, I'd bet this 1.86 garnet is one of the few remaining Namibian Mandarine spessartites, mainly because of its hazy silky crystal, responsible for the sleepy look these gems produce and its extra strong color. However, this gem came from Tanzania, not too far away from Namibia (on a world-map) but also a recent find. Precision-cut, strong pure orange, perfect tone, not too dark, not too pale. Under direct light exhibiting a lively sparkle, in low light tuning down to the above-mentioned pure orange glow, in a 100% face-up, miraculously surviving even in almost-darkness. Under the lens, the crystal reveals various silky inclusions, as well as the liquid-type swirls known from hessonite. While brilliancy under good light is a fine thing, the orange glow under low light is truly special. As visible in all images the gem suffers zero black-out, has no window and no (eye-)visible inclusions. Add no treatments and it qualifies for our 3*Nos standard, the check-in test for the best of the best. Precision cut, IGI report (deep orange), free shipping etc. p.p. are included in our prices.
