Comment: Typical for sphene and its extra-plus birefringence, incoming light is split up along  the spectrum and can be detected in red, blue, orange flashes, as visible in the detailed photos (under'more images'). In this Russian sphene the base-color is green with yellow as secondary hue, also typical for sphene. No visible inclusions to the eye, not terribly deep cut but also no window, thus optimizing the trade-off between weight and luster. Set in a protective setting (bezel) sphene is an exceptional jewelry gem combining both color and luster in a way that few, if any, other natural gems can offer. A must for anybody appreciating brilliancy.
