The Setting: Slender Victorian Emerald-Diamond Cross (with hidden hearts)
- 18K White Gold with UK Hallmark
- 22mmx20mm Visual Top Dimension
- Slender Band with three rows of channel-set diamonds on upper shank
- Single Marquise Halo
- Two V-shaped Corner Prongs
- Total 0.36 carats of 72 conflict-free brilliant diamonds in VVS (or better) and color D (or better)
- 5.25 gram (incl. gems)
- Size USA 7 (re-sizing free of charge)
Comment: The immediately distinguishing feature is the marquise shape set AGAINST the band's orientation, thus forming a cross. The upper shank is thinner than the gem's widest point, allowing the emerald, though 'barely' three carats, to dominate the cross. This effect is pushed further by the marquise (plus halo) measuring almost 20mm in length, just short of the band's outer diameter. Visible in our handshots, where the gem seems as long, or even longer, than the ring is wide. Far off the usual pattern, just as may be expected from an exclusive design. Notable, the two (only 2) v-shaped prongs holding the gem. A multitude of half-point diamonds cover the cross' surface, adding a trainload of sparkle, but allowing the emerald a first and main impression. An emerald crossed on diamond: Gent's or ladies' ring? I dare not judge. Oh, and with a wink, visible only under close inspection and with the ring OFF the finger, we find that little hearts have been stamped out from the gallery rail underneath the gem! Does that then make it a ladies' ring? Share it with your loved one, if you can meet in a size seven, or let us make another ring in the same design but different size. It will only take time and budget.

Comment: Strongly chrome-based green in MD75. Compare the 'studio-shots' (white background) with our hand-images in natural daylight. The former lack the blue spectrum from a pure artificial daylight (as in an indoors office-bunker), while the handshots show the gem under common, natural light-settings. For those who try to decipher 'true' color from images, natural daylight is preferable, since this is how the gem will be seen most of the time; unless you lead a work-only indoors-life, which, for such a ring, doesn't fit in style. On the other hand, in our images we tend to optimize the show of brilliancy (which the studio doesn't). Note, the face dimensions of this 2.85 carat gem. Its relative dark tone (MD75) allows a lower depth (only 52%) and yet produces no window in a marquise cut. In short: Big face but no window. Clean crystal (for an emerald). Intense deep green but never too dark. No yellow or grey, but an intense slightly bluish green, as only emerald can produce.
