Comment: First, and so far only, primarily masculine ring from the DJC. That said, anybody with strong hands and a liking for substantial designs is welcome to this gorgeous block of white gold crowned by a planet-like dome of emerald and surrounded by glitter, but if we had a section with 'gent's rings' this jewelry overlord would be first in it. Note the marquise shaped cut-outs on the inner band, helpful as far as daily comfort goes but also weight reducing. (BTW: Such cuts are NEVER done to safe money in gold (at least not in such hand-made designer pieces) but only to add pattern and improve wear-ability. The hours of hyper-qualified effort that go into this immaculate net of precision marquises, have eaten any savings in gold before someone could have lifted the hammer.) Remarkable, to me, is the smooth integration of an overall square first impression with slightly curved side-lines around an utterly dome-shaped center. It goes: square-concave-globule, with marquise patterns beneath. Fear not: 'Hey, my friend/uncle/brother/father has a similar ring!'. No, Sir, this you will not hear, will not happen. There is one only of these marvels, it is yours, or your ancenstors, till hell freezes over (forgive the plagiarism).

Comment: Though cut as cabochon this is 100% facet crystal quality. For the new-comer: Theoretically, 'cabochon' suggest lesser crystal quality. I'm all thanks to the lapidary who asked David's permission to produce an 'emerald-planet' instead of 'just another' facetted gem. See our 'more images', close ups and planet surfaces. A marvelous Zambian emerald in strong vivid green, no yellow, no grey, some blue, with little needles visible only under the lens. Untreated and unbeatable unique. Though not a star, nor a cat's eye, I have added it into these groups just to join it with other cabochons.
