Comment: As every pad-friend knows, no padparadscha is like the other. Defining the right mix of pink and orange in a myriad of combinations with individual tone and saturation thrown-in, has given cause to many thousand (probably hundred k) hours of debate and many an essay has been written; and still no final world has been printed. We therefore call padparadscha only what was identified as such by a respected lab. This 3.02 pear past the padparadscha test at IGI, the world's biggest chain of gem labs. It nevertheless marks a tone (remember, tone is zero at white and 100 at black) on the outer edge of commonly used parameters in pads. At Medium Dark 65 the orange is clearly dominating the pink. To me, when the pad-or-no-pad-Q is posed, I envision a beautiful sunset and ask myself, could this gem be part of it? If the answer is yes, I will bid and buy at pad price. This 3.02 makes the cut, in a late sunset after a tropical storm perhaps. But consider this color index here, at R. Hughes newly founded lab, you will find the color 'Padparadscha' next to 'Mekong Whiskey'. Might this unheated sapphire also tingle your whiskey nerves? Well, sunset and whiskey often come together anyways, right? Whatever truth may-be for whom, here is a sparkly, clean, well cut, no window, no treatment deep orange-pink sapphire of significant size.
