Comment: Newly permitted into our stock: Oiled emeralds. (Please read here if you want to know why.) This 0.82, in the all-time classic cut and shape of Emeralds, comes with two compliments: 1. Hardly any inclusions; the lens is needed to study three vertical strings, as detailed in the close-up image and also in the side-image, yet they are not visible at normal sight and 2. a bright and open green with a tint of blue. Sandawana Emeralds have been famous amongst connoisseurs (and celebrities) ever since the mines opened in the 1960ies. Usually small, with half a carat being a fair size, their super high chromium content secured them a place amongst the best Emeralds ever found, not only in Africa, but world-wide, including Columbia. With a recently acquired South African estate we may now have access to the biggest and best collection of these distinguished gems worldwide. If you do want to criticize this 0.82 gem, you must check the handshot: The dark square in the center can be called a window but pays off with a 5x7mm face and a clever setting should be able to hide it. With your average emerald being almost opaque from massive inclusions, the clarity of this specimen, eye-clean or better, is truly remarkable.
