This long oval emerald from Sandawana comes in a pretty ideal deep green with just a small tint of blue. The description 'emerald-green' would be point-on but not very helpful in this context. By definite such gems are color-stones (not luster-) although when under more light, as in the handshot, good gems do show luster just not the wild glitter we expect from a primarily brilliant gem. The cut that took on these gem's name was developed to display color, not luster, with few and big facets. The experimental images with a pure white background show the color well, but melt all inner life and dimensions. DSEF report with origin. No visible inclusions, no window, colorless oil-only. Sandawana emeralds were (mines are empty) rarely found over one carat; this full size with 9x6mm is considered off-the-chart-big. We probably have the only relevant stock of Sandawana in the world. Nowadays they only become available in single pieces from estate sales and in jewelry. Proudly presented. Assured future rarity. Enjoy the choice.
