Overall Grade: Excellent

Comment: Pretty fantastic spinel from old Tajikistan stock. These are the spinels that used to be mistaken for a type of rubies, called Balas Rubies. Precision cut to perfection, fine polish, no window, no inclusions, no treatments. With 1.9 carat it gives a big face up of 8mm, slightly oval, but almost round at first sight. Will fill a size 6 ring solitaire without problem, and 8/9 with a halo. The hue is best described as flowery pink-purple, not flashy hot pink, but a deep rose, lavender pink, some red, no violet, no grey. Under 'more images', we have captured the most purple and the most pink borders of the gem. Imagine in most lights, a melange of the two colors (of course without dark areas). Finest spinel, flawless, beautiful, durable.
