Overall Grade: Excellent

Comment: Marking the border between red and pink, IMO, both with a calming 2dnary purple. Rich deep hue in Medium Dark 70, not 'hot' or neon but a dignified cultured character. Under the lens, and on photo, note orange inclusions or even a color-zone that at times mixes orange into the overall hue. These orange patches aside, the crystal is lens-clean. The perfect hand-cut (see e.g. side-image with exact meeting and shaped facets) was awarded an 'excellent' (normally a precision-cut domain.) The facet-rich cut shows in a tight rolling luster with a broad variety of color-flashes from pink, red and purple. Immaculate oval. EMIL added an individual 'no heat' arguing that the orange patches would have melted under heat. A fresh report will confirm this as heat-testing on spinel has been adapted by some other labs. They may also opt for 'red' as primary color and perhaps have data on the origin. High-end Balas (Badakshan, a famous 18th century mining area) spinel, priced below the red-only version but no less impressive. Near 10x8mm face-up will need a high-domed setting over size 7.
