Comment: A gem with many trade-ins and -offs. Let me begin with shape and depth: It is shallow, with only 42%, and a window when seen against a near-by background (as in handshot), but NOT when in 'the open' with air or a neutral background behind as under 'more images'. This is thanks to a strong color, allowing a setting that hides the window, but, and here is the trade-in, gives us a 6x6mm face-up with under one carat to pay for. Luckily, the center in clean and unincluded, too, leaving the inner color smooth and undisturbed, where any inclusion would have been easy to spot and very disturbing but here shows only the nice deep reddish purple in various shades. Its hue and tone, though very ruby-like, was graded as 'purple' by IGI and AIGS thus pushes down the price to 'sapphire' instead of 'ruby'. Double reports give us 100% assurance on 'no-heat'. All-in-all, a good opportunity to have a full sized untreated ruby-sapphire from Ceylon (a rare origin for this color) to set in a ladies' ring with little compromises to make in the end.
