Overall Grade: Excellent

Comment: Cold royal blue with the least possible purple, no green. Cornflower would have more purple, Kashmir would be darker. In handshot below I captured the oncoming luster before it turns the gem into a sparkling blue bulb. In the back image you can see a band of deeper blue running through the crystal. This gives the gem its unique wavy color character from the front. While the type of blue remains the same, its tone changes between MD70 and MD80. The precision recut from 2.31 carat minimized its former window, closed down to a 0.5mm circle invisible to the eye, and increased brilliancy from 66% to 90%. Inclusions are lens-only. Rare combination of strong color with maximum luster. Certified unheated by seller-independent lab in Sri Lanka (its origin, too). If you have some time, we'll make an additional IGI report on our cost. Almost 8x7mm (loss in re-cut was 0.2mm in both axis) will suit a size 9 ring with bezel or halo, or in prongs between 4.5 and 7.
