Comment: Originally 2.60 carat this Sri Lankan Sapphire has profited immensely from Conny Forsberg's re-cut-magic, bringing it up to cornflower quality; the rich blue never pales but also never darkens too far to send out its blue sparks, even in low light. While the close-up hand-shot didn't come out as well as it could (shaky hands due to XXL coffee mugs), the other images caught its fine color and the lively brilliancy on more solid ground. Other gems produce nice variations of blue, but this hue-tone combination is sapphire-only. Full IGI report with 'no heat' and origin 'Sri Lanka', plus. No window, no visible inclusions (lens only), untreated and from good pedigree. Not many precision cut unheated sapphires around.
* Sharper, younger eyes have reported to detect a fissure without lens. Either this has happened on the air-flight to the aforementioned sharp eyes (sudden temperature change in cargo-planes do that to us once a year, which is another reason why anybody who loves his gems dislikes, to put it mildly, returns, especially I-just-have-a-look-orders from the their-business-problem-type-customers), or I have missed it (and so must have Conny). Repeated re-checkings in the last weeks have been inconclusive, depending on the type of light, viewing angle, state of brain at the time etc etc. Only complete new images with 72fold zoom will help. Until then: If you buy this gem and honestly tell me you can see the inclusions without lens, you get 40% discount as future credit.
