Comment: Color-change multi-color sapphire from Tanzania: Unlike the 'classic' sapphire-move between purple and blue, Tanzanian sapphires remind of alexandrites and some CC garnets. This 4.23 carat moves between olive green and yellow-orange. Precision cut in Sweden to over 9x8mm and filled with a multitude of tranquil colors, from moss green to copper, olive to golden caramel, from metallic green to terracotta-orange, and reverse, with all imaginable (and unimaginable) mélanges in-between. Serious size in an unheated sapphire, facing up like a 4+ carat. A unique character, sophisticated, with interesting details under the lens (see 'more images'), yet eye-clean and with full brilliancy. The infinite play of light and color left us with over a dozen of 'undeletable' images, each showing a different aspect to the considerate observer. Colored (!) needles punch like comets through the gem's body; visible only under the lens but producing a glittery sheen. At mere $3k/ct, in this size, the gem is a bargain off the beaten path, satisfaction guaranteed: Frequently, after years, we hear back from buyers of Tanzanian color-changers reporting how they never stopped surprising with new impressions and colors (not a concept for frequent replacement-sales but happy owners nevertheless). This truly special and big gem needs a ring size above 7 or a pendant.
