Comment: A sapphire from the twilight-world of Corundunia. Not black but very dark royal-blue, or midnight-blue. Note the distinct parallel color zones (lens only). The color graded 'excellent', yet, in combination with a 'Dark 90' we landed at an 'overall grade' of only 'good'. Remember, even the finest hue needs the right tone. In Medium Dark 75 this would probably have been a master 'royal blue'. Theory aside, this gem loves bright light, sunshine, rewarding your attention with the unique hue that has made sapphires famous; the last blue of a clear summer sky, stars already out, the day's last glow red on the horizon, just before the night takes over. Many ultra-deep-fried sapphires are this dark but we have the real deal, certified unheated as always. No inclusions, no window, precision cut, immaculate polish from a 100.000 grit, as good as it gets. Obviously not a merry sparkler but a secret friend from the dark side, winking for you, now and then, with the finest blue nature has to offer.
