Comment: AIGS graded this sapphire as bi-colored, primary blue and secondary purple, and I can understand the POV. However, one may argue for a color-change, reddish purple at night and violet-blue at day. Under 'more images' I have added shots of the type we would use for color changers. One can clearly see the two sides and they are far enough from one another to call them CC not only color-shift. Even though we may perceive areas with more or less blue and purple at the same time these are not permanent color-zones but shifting light effects. The overall impression in neutral daylight is best shown in the main image. With 58% depth we have the lucky combination of a large face-up, worthy of a 3+ct gem (over 9x7), but no window, pretty much an ideal situation. While explaining on gem with the color of another seems silly, here is an exception, a possible amethyst color in sapphire. Like many Madagascan sapphires it is included under the lens, but for the eye no single inclusions stands out but rather sums up to a glittery inner life adding to normal luster. See side- and back-images for a additional view on the inclusions. Though AIGS set its primary color as 'blue', I often see the purple equally strong, hence we have not priced it as blue, but blue-purple. If you like an intense purple or a flowery blue without any paleness or grey, have a closer look. It will fill a size 8 or 9 ring and would not be too small for a pendant.
