Overall Grade: Very Good

Comment: Rare size in sparkly bright blue Montana sapphire. Extra brlilliant in any light. No inclusions except a micro zircon-crystal in a spider web (cool, but lens only!). Diamond-style luster with a cold color that would count as 'vivid blue' in diamonds and cost you more than a promising IT start-up. Re-cut from a 5+ carats less symmetric original. AIGS certified unheated with full report (comes for free with every gem). Collector size, almost round at first sight, off the main stream with deep-blue sapphires the current hype. That said, do not compare an untreated Montana blue to a Sri Lanka blue. They are as different as the weather in either country. A royal blue Montana sapphire compares to snow in Sri Lanka (it happens in the highest regions around Nuwara Eliya, once a year). A natural Montana sapphire with an obvious blue is cause for celebration, as is any size over two carats. Add our 3*Nos of Excellence (no window, no inclusions, no treatments) to three+ carats and there is cause for a full day of celebrations. With near 9x8mm this gem will fill any ring-size up to ten, or twelve if you have the budget for a halo. Given its cold color and pedigree, white gold or platinum would be the obvious choice of metal, unless you want to add warmth and opt for 22k yellow gold (no half measures with 18k).
