Comment: "Copper/Manganese-bearing Cuprian Tourmaline", such is the official definition of 'Paraiba' independently from its origin and lately also from its hue and tone, hence we see neon-yellow or deep purple paraiba tourmalines on offer these days. This 1.94 is closer to the green-blue varieties in their unheated state, but a good deal off those truly blinding original Brazilian paraibas which, often after heat-treatment, makes you look for hidden battery connections so unbelievably they radiated color. However, these legends demand viewing-fees today before you are allowed to bid on them no-where under $10k/ct over a carat, without window and untreated. This two-carat gem still contains its mangnese share, commonly a victim to the heat-process, and is noteable for its color-change ability. Except for a rare Umba-version, tourmaline does not change color, yet see under more images: pistaccio-green (mixed light), blue-green (office), yellow (tungsten) and even violet-purple (under UV-light only paraiba does this). Which is the common week-day hue? The handshot get's closest. If you still have sharp eyes and choose a side-view you may (I, past 50 years, cannot) pinpoint one brown or orange tube, a classic in these gems, or the yellow inclusions in its center without lens. Our IGI report assures that your grandkids know they have the real deal and that it won't not be ditched for two bucks in a garage sales. In jewelry this gem will make an interesting, ever-changing candidate for ring-sizes up to ten.
