Comment: Most powerful luster AND color in this ruby from Mozambique. Fresh red with a tint of purple and violet. Inclusions only under the lens. With 95% brilliancy perhaps the most sparkly ruby in our all-unheated collection. Squarish-round cushion in flawless handcut. No black-out and never pink (though the border between red and pink is a Q of taste). See glow in handshot, all captured with just a little natural daylight, indoors, on a not-sunny day (with sunshine, even if only outside, good rubies explode in fluorescence that must be edited out later). Not a shy character. The outer shape sits between 'just rectangular' or 'almost round' cushion, also a Q of personal taste or definition. In either case a rare and most-wanted shape in ruby. No window, no inclusions, no treatments, 3Nos, thereby immediately in the top 10% of all no-heat natural rubies (or top 0.1% of all available rubies including reconstituted and lead-glass filled gems but excluding synthetic). Add fine color, 95% luster and good proportions and the air gets thin even at 15k/ct. Vibrant sight for a max ring size 7, or 8 with halo, but also down to 3.5.
