Comment: 100% matching pair of unheated deep marine blue sapphires from Tanzania. Free of inclusions. No window. Double AIGS report. Pleochroism into green-blue is visible only from the side (see 'more images') and under the lens (also in reflection on glass below). Marine blue is a colder hue than cornflower, lacking purple, instead adding a green tint. Sidestones for a posh ring or as earrings. Unheated sapphires are double-dare hard to find matching if you understand 'matching' as we do: like in 'can't tell apart without carat balance'. Heat, on the other side, equalizes tone and hue, thus pairs are easy to produce after heat-treatment, even rows of identical gems for channel settings. Without treatment the big jewelry companies could not fill global stores with identical items. Hunting for unheated sidestones is amongst the most nerve-racking jobs I have; the possibilities for not-matching are infinite.
