Comment: Another rarity for 2017: An Iolite Cat's Eyes with multi-colored inclusions on a dark violet body and a ray with rainbow-colored sparks (see handshot below). The first of its kind with us, and also for the DSEF. Others are found in lightly colored, white foggy gems with faint rays, while this here is the crass opposite with a dark metallic blue body, heavily fibrous and in full light, look close, a multitude of colored inclusions, round, square, rectangular and dots of white, yellow, red, blue, and green, similar to opal or iridescence in other gems but thicker and immobile. Unique, and then some! Tungsten light opens the body in orange brown and turns the ray yellow, typical effect in many cat's eyes simply from the light-source color, but here also note the colored dots and inlays. Overall the gem is Medium Dark 80, as in the handshots, meaning a deep metallic violet-blue, like in some bigger faceted Iolites a dense strong hue. Durable for jewelry. International shipping is free of charge plus the original DSEF report, rainforest-protection by WLT with a land-certificate in your name, and a donation to the non-human animal rights group; help for the world where most effective. Under 'more images' you'll find the side-view: no belly or extra weight, full face-up with zero loss. 12x10mm will fill a gent's ring or pendant, though I would want the former to have the full pleasure of discovering every new color and all the crazy details.
*The cutting and polishing has left some surface residue, wax and/or oil, which the DSEF has noted. We do not consider this a treatment in the sense of an enhancement.

See the rainbow colored ray!
