Overall Grade: Good+

Comment: Untreated kunzite from Afghanistan in as deep-pink as possible without treatments. Deeper pinks or vivid purple kunzites are (usually) the result of radiation and heat-treatment, first one, then the other, both undetectable but burning away the, here visible, slight violet-ish undertone. Kunzite, as member of the feldspar family, is of relative low density, but high durability, and thus has become a popular gem for posh big pendants; with even this under-two-carat gem producing 9x6mm pear shape with full depth and without window. Silky crystal, free of inclusions. The traditional handcut had to accommodate a chipped cusp with an additional facet, flattening the tip. Though hardly visible to the eye this tip puts it 'on sale' and helps with the finances. If you use the savings for a thin halo, you can get yourself, or your loved one, a queenly world-class pendant on a reasonable budget. A halo could also cover the tip, though it really is hardly visible to the eye. Ask us for an estimate on the pendant.
