Overall Grade: Excellent+

Comment: Finest green tourmaline from old Afghani stock. The handshot captures this beauty just right. These classic tourmaline allow for a minimum of yellow, no or little blue, leaving only the purest green possible. With Medium Dark 70 never pale, never dark. Precision cut with excellent crystal, no visible inclusions, untreated and no window. Pretty perfect, getting a '+' behind the 'Excellent.' Before the paraiba-types came from Brazil and Africa, these were the most expensive of all tourmalines and the choice alternative to emeralds. Compared to paraiba-style, different in character, less aggressive, but forceful, dense hue and highly visible. Big face-up with 8x6mm will fill a size 7/8 ring, but perhaps be too clunky for 3/4. Not too small for a pendant.
