Comment: As an affordable alternative to a big yellow sapphire, this spodumene offers good sparkle from a clean crystal, flawlessly cut without window and, of course, free of treatments. Lab certified in Madrid by the Spanish government's institute for gemology. The rise in demand for gem testing in Europe has brought many formerly scientific-only government laboratories to open up for the wider service market. The fact that these local labs have not made global brand names of themselves is no indication of lacking know-how, in fact, if you take time to study their websites they have contributed no less to science than GIA or AGL over the last decades, only they didn't care about earning money; which has changed dramatically since the 2008 financial crisis cut all but the most essential public funding down to zero. With over ten carats, a posh gem for a sunny ring or pendant, probably preferring yellow or rose gold. Spodumene are neither terribly soft nor very tough, hence a pendant would be more protective than a ring. If the latter is planned let us set it into a bezel, covering the setting risk while maximizing its protection. At a moderate $150/ct, with a comparable yellow sapphire no-where under $10k/stone, such a lesser known gem variety is a great offer, available only through the web or a journey to the big trade shows (be sure to buy only with lab report unless you want to risk buying quartz or paying a sapphire price).
