Comment: Deep Bordeaux red garnet, like CGR1288 but even darker, especially considering the fact that it is only half the size and yet another 10 points darker (with 'Dark 90'). This means that the tone of the seven carat is 'doubly dark', or, said differently, if the 12 carat had the tone of this 7 carat, it would probably be reddish black, Dark 95, or Dark 99 to push the imagination. That said, if you like a dark red gemstone that is not dull black and want a big fellow on a tight budget, such a red garnet is a gift from heaven. You cannot expect glittering red fire from such a gem but a deep red glow is assured, absolutely distinguishable from a black gem. No inclusions, good cutting, big face but no window thanks to the dark shade (compared with CGR1288 it is only half the weight but 80% of face-up). DSEF report remarking the solid mix of almandine, pyrope and grossular as opposed to one of these three domineering and thus making it an 'almandine garnet' or a 'pyrope' with a bit of the others (as are most garnets). Under $1k for an all-natural, certified red gem with all imaginable services for a top fun-experience with no hassle or regrets.
