Overall Grade: Excellent+

Comment: Outstanding rich blue spinel with very little to none grey but more purple-violet as secondary hue. Certified as color-changer with a soft shift from sky-blue at day to a warmer cobalt at night. Precision cut in Germany, optimized for luster in a rare diamond-cut round. BTW, we call this a diamond cut, although it was adapted for the individual refractive index (RI) of spinels. Otherwise, we would have a window where now we can enjoy uninterrupted luster and a maximal sized face-up. Obviously not a simple topic which a master cutter such as Mr. Wieland spent his life to learn, and lives are not cheap. The talent and amount of study and experience needed to avoid windows while keeping luster, color and dimensions in balance explains why a good two-third of all gems must spent their lives with a hole in the center and little color, or a belly with a dark tiny face-up or any other of the endless numbers of flaws found in most gems. Here, with no inclusions visible to the eye, no treatments and the third NO window, we have one the rare flawless gems deserving our stamp "3*NOS" and its premium. The fine color and the silky needles (lens only) were not Mr. Wieland's doing, but an equally rare gift from nature, and double precious when crossed with human talent. If you know blue spinel, then you know what you see here and why it may be the most expensive one-carat blue spinel in the market (is it?). In case you like to see the color change on photo, we can do it but it's not much to look at on image. Also, it's not priced for its color change abilities.
