Comment: Apatite Cat's Eyes have been used as an alternative for chrysoberyl, the original variety connected to cat's eyes. Gems like this near ten carat piece have become very rare and expensive, therefore apatite has gained some attention. They are durable and can be very pretty. For example, the light effect seen in the main image, with one side of the gem in a different color than the other, here yellow and green separated by a silver ray, is also the most desired feature in chrysoberyl. Study the side- and see-through-images to evaluate the gem's translucency. An incandescent light-source produces a change in color to cinnamon or honey with the ray turning yellow. This is however NOT considered a color-change effect. One photo under 'more images' shows the unpolished backside, in an ideal shape, enough space for the setting but no unnecessary weight. With 13x10mm this gem can fill any gent's ring size or pendant.
