Comment: Triphane, the rarer yellow variety of spodumene, is a sibling of pink kunzite and green hiddenite. Of these three, kunzite is the most widely known, yet other types have their own charm and remain bargains even in big sizes. Treated spodumene are more intense in their colors, kunzite can be made bubble-gum pink, hiddenite turns vivid green, only yellow spodumene is immune to treatments, thus far at least. As so often, you need to combine the color of our side-images with the overloaded front-shots where reflection and luster turn the gem almost white. In person the brilliancy is of the same soft golden yellow as in the side-images. In case you have noticed its depth, 97% does not mean much in a gem of this shape and length. In a 'normal' shape, say oval or square, it would be a pretty sure indication for a window, but this long gem easily fulfills our 3*Nos: No window, no inclusions, no treatments. A good gem for an extravagant pendant, if you fear the cost of a heavy gold-design, we can now offer posh silver-work from London. The cost of labor remains high but silver is cheap enough to create big designs (see some under 'trust').
