Comment: Finest peridot as mined only in Burma and the Himalayas. Light-years away from brownish dull Chinese peridot that you see everywhere in branded jewelry. Most intense green with the bright yellow adding more fire. Peridot is durable, far more so than emerald, equal to garnet or tourmaline, and I have never understood the relative small market they have. It may either be because of the pebble-cheap (not to say 'dirt-cheap') supply of dim quality from other sources or counter-intuitively because they are one of the few idiochromatic gems, meaning the color is NOT a result of rare impurities but comes from its 'own' iron content. In the world of transparent gems, peridot is in fact the only idiochromatic variety. That is not to say peridot is plentiful, olivine the 'main-mineral' is plentiful but gem-quality olivine, then called peridot, is a precious and rare gem. In any case, as the images show well, you can get tons of intense green on the dollar. Inclusions only under the lens, perhaps. Flawless hand-cut. If you are game and have time, we'll precision re-cut it for free and the fun. Then making an Excellent+ and probably not going under 4 carats with little loss in face-up. Free of inclusions, no window, untreated, at $750/ct, impossible with emerald or garnet, even with far more popular tourmaline, impossible. Very distinct unique color. Little wonder peridots sit next to ruby, sapphire and emeralds in many antique crowns and sceptres, for long considered to be one of the 'big' gems. Needs a full ring size over 6/7, better near 10.
