Comment: Hessonite's rish colors, ever well-known amongst gem-collectors and in mythology, have lately been recognized to make fine jewelry in designer circles. So far, God be praised, they have been left untreated. This fiery sparkler is a fine example of the deep orange kind. The lively luster in good light, and the glowing fire in any light, makes it an eye-catching, never mundane, attraction. No visible inclusions, hand-cut in Germany and dripping with a deep reddish orange. The 'fuzzy' crystal is not a sign of inclusions but the ID-mark of hessonite-only crystal, also called swirls, under the lens it looks as if the gem is filled with a moving liquid (fantastic but true), nothing similar can be found in nature's wonder-gem-box. Big face, no window. Durable as all garnets. IMHO one of the most undervalued gems, next to zircon.
