Comment: Usually we try not to bore our subscribers with two similar gems in one newsletter, like a second 5-carats rhodolite, but this 5.41 is such a different animal compared to 5.50 they might well be from different varieties. This, for rhodolites uncommon, emerald-cut is all about color plus an extra-fine crystal. As in all emerald shapes, luster or brilliancy booms from main POVs but dims down to color-only in others. The ancient cut is mostly used in low-RI gems with many inclusions, like the name-giving green beryl itself. The images, in particular those without reflections, show its exquisite crystal and the deeply saturated hue. Very little purple, if any, to my eyes, instead a fresh blood red (the oxygen-filled post-lungs type) or bright cherry red for those who faint easily. Flooding the images with brilliancy distract from that specific beauty, while in person, the glowing luster keeps the color intact; marvelous to behold even in lowest light. Very different from 5.50, right? Many costly spinels and rubies would be proud of such deep yet vivid red with little black-out. 3*Nos of Excellence, IGE report from Madrid, with roughly 12x8mm a perfect ratio in face-up dimensions. This gem would not mind to show itself in a pendant since it does not rely on direct light.
