Overall Grade: Very Good

Comment: Fine liquid crystal in this lavender purple-blue spinel from Ceylon. AGTL marked it as 'pinkish purple' but there is also violet, IMO. However, the color shifts between purple-violet and purple-pink, the latter stronger in low and incandescence light, and more violet in daylight. To some this is an extra attraction, others like their colors more stable. In spinel, and sapphire, such a colorshift is normal. No inclusions, no treatments, almost no window. Well cut, fine polish (polish has generally improved over the years, even in local cuts). The outer shape can be seen as oval or cushion, depending on your understanding of cushions. With 8x6mm a good face up in 1.38ct for ring sizes up to 8. Both, color and shape is open to subjective POV but its crystal, smooth and gleaming from within is sure of delicate beauty, an understated soft character.
