Comment: Bright shiny red (traffic light) spinel competing with fine rubies, yet utterly clean (as rare in corundum). Handcut in Sri Lanka with 59% depth but not pale in the center. Not yet a window as you can see in handshots. Depth, as always, trades for a large face-up, here 8x6, normally needing over two carats. Outer shape between oval and cushion. In any case this is a color AND luster gem, the best of both worlds. Such quality spinels are now traded where ruby used to be 10 years ago (you will find them offered at today's ruby equivalent already). Never ever getting cheaper. TGL added purple to red, but IMO it is orange in the 2nd hue. Free updated IGI report for those who can wait a bit. Strong translucency as you can see in the gleaming daylight images. Will fill a  all ring sizes up to 8. Even for the trained eye hard to distinguish from ruby without further testing.
