Overall Grade: Very Good

Comment: Deep violet blue spinel with a warmer hue than ultramarine. Normally such an oval cut is luster oriented but here it shows more color than brilliancy. If you dislike rectangular shapes but want a color-stone, this gives the unique combination. Alternative to blue sapphire but with its own character (sapphires show more color shift into purple, or green, depending on the type). Classic color in Ceylon spinel with little purple or grey, but more violet than CBRS427. In Medium Dark 80 this is a dark gem, always blue though, not black. Clean dense crystal, no window, as good as no inclusion (as the close-up images show well), untreated. 3NOs quality. Big face-up. Will fill a gent's ring up to size 10 or make a pendant. Not under size six in a ladie's ring. Check the color also in back-side image, as deep as blue gets.
