Comment: CGJ defined this spinel's color as 'violet-ish green blue' and these three hues can actually be found with some study, though the violet, to my eye, comes before the green, so it may be rather 'greenish violet blue'. In any case this is a bright shade of ultramarine blue (when compared with OBS220 for example) with obvious violet and some green undertones and only a tiny bit of grey. The color in the CHJ gem report's image is NOT representative; hence ignore. With its broader color spectrum this spinel comes closer to marine blue sapphires than the warmer cobalt blue. The gem is 100% clean, even under the lens, was cut locally, flawless and neat, but with some tilt window which, as a trade-off, allowed for almost 10x8mm in face-up, a proud visual for 2.5 carat. If you are looking for an alternative for multi-k sapphire, this is good spinel to consider. The connoisseur will catch the unique spinel character but most people would bet on sapphire. As you can see in our handshot (with ring-size 12 fingers) the gem could well be set in a massive ring. Home delivery, all paperwork, lab reports, rainforest protection and full Wild Fish service are included in our shy fee of $500/ct.
