Comment: Lively sparkling purple spinel in a well-crafted princess cut. As most gems from this mine-run, this beauty colorshifts between purple and violet but less than others. Thanks to the princess or modified scissor cut, but also due to the brighter shade, this spinel is the flashiest gem from its parcel (now empty). 2.6 carat got us 10x7mm, but no window - a remarkable yield. The inclusions that you may find only under the lens and with a sharp eye are in theory NOT inclusions but natural indents, yet there are two of those, plus a little fissure with some yellow, so a 'Very Lightly Included' seemed appropriate. That said, the gem is 100% eye-clean, the crystal is liquid and sparkly, the color is a lush but dark mix of violet and purple, plum and grape, best seen in the side-image. The handshot and also the front images catch too much brilliancy and that makes the gem look brighter than it is in person. Ideally, 'take' the color from the side-image and 'project' it onto the front image, then you have a deeper color with surprisingly violent sparks and lots of hard-to-pinpoint glitter. With 'hard-to-pinpoint' I mean the luster is not running gradually from left to right but seems to be coming from all over the gem, independent from light-source and viewpoint. Perhaps one must see in person to understand but then it's obvious.
