Overall Grade: Very Good

Comment: Finest precision cut from original five carats. This steel violet-blue in spinel can be photographed (in fact prefers to be) in deep blue but we have tried to show its steely cold character in Medium Dark 60. Nothing flowery, warm here, no purple, no colorshift, but a hard cool blue (also no green, never in spinel). DSEF (a German 'Scientific Stiftung', meaning non-profit institute) was one of the first to attest 'no treatments' in spinel. Unique, one-only, combination of long rectangular  shape and scissor cut (usually seen in square diamond). Luster moves in jumps along the scissor blades, not in the usual wave-form. Butterfly and veil inclusions are fun under the lens but not visible to the eye. Color is well shown in handshot, but ignore the finger prints showing through the clean crystal. 11x7mm is serious size, even in 3 carats, basically the former 5 carat face has survived the re-cut. Not under size 7 rings, and up to Goliath hands (or size 14), or as pendant.
