Comment: This color changer moves from a moss-green at day to an red-orange ochre at night. The in-between color are not a mash-up of all hues but come in stripes and sections of orange (a sub-hue of brown) inside the green or vice versa. Check the images with two opposing light sources hitting the gem from each side: Orange red on one side, and some green on the other. In the shot on wood, and in the handshot, green and orange next to eachother throughout the gem. Interesting, too, in the side image below, a horizontal layer of green in the red, meaning a layer of different chemical composition changing the hue in one slice (though invisible from the front, BTW). Other than the Bekily gems, this garnet is rather brightly toned, MD60, allowing it to sparkle even in low light environment. No window, no inclusions, no treatments. This is a good gem for those who are intimidated by the frequent warnings that CC gems are not for beginners, need long study, are a hard to understand etc.. This gem is easier to access thanks to its tone (always daytime green, as in the IGI image) and the easy swing to orange ochre-red. Perhaps it is the lack of blue that causes this simplifying effect. The plain color-wheel added below is not meant to insult your basic schooling but to make a quick visual check easier: a true color changer jumps over the color wheel, rather than simply moving a hue along.
