Comment: Last, and so far best, from the new parcel of color-shifting Tanzanian rhodolites in November. Deep violet-ish pink-purple and ruby-style silky purple red and all in-between. The silky crystal, as shown in the close-up below, intensifies the sleepy glow of this 2.10 carat gem. Big face, but no window, with almost 8mm round in over 2 carats. Old traditional hand-cut as good as it gets. No inclusions visible to the eye, untreated, DSEF certified as 'color-shifting' and 'Rhodolite'; each alone a valuable distinction that not many garnets achieve, together a newsworthy discovery (more details in an article from the GIA). Like all color-shifter/changer these gems promise, and demand, a long-lasting discovery period as they surprise their owner with new color impressions in every new light setting. As the handshot shows, here and in the others, this is a Medium Dark 75 tone, deep, mystic gleamy, rather than flashy merry sparkler. Comparable to Kashmir Blue or Pigeon Blood red in their veiled beauty as opposed to an in-your-face flashy red or neon blue.
