Comment: This, and one other, came with a parcel of rubies from Kashmir. No, we didn't pay the ruby price but somebody did. However, as you can see, even for a photogenic gem as red garnets, these beauties have their own undeniable charme. The main images show all color and details, while the hand-shots give more tone: Medium Dark 75 on the scale from zero as white and 100 as black. Dark red glow in all light settings, never black but also not a bright fire-engine red. The Kashmiri lapidary who designed all these new gems, had (still has, we may hope) good eyes to balance depth and weight-loss while avoiding windows with almost surprising perfection. Here, he gave us almost 10x8mm from less than three carat and not even a tilt-window, all by 'simple' hand-cutting.
