Comment: Gleaming green-blue Mozambique tourmaline of the type that made waves sooo big they reached the shores of Brazil, where Paraiba tourmaline mines had long been depleted. There, Brazilian dealers looked-up Mozambique on their world-maps, filled airplanes, and mines in Paraiba suddenly became 'productive' again with the travellers making a fortune from $100/ct in Mozambique to many $Ks per carat in Paraiba. A vicious fight erupted over what could be called Paraiba tourmaline, and why. On one side fought those with true old Paraibas in their safes, on the other side were the Mozambique miners and their (not always too honest) Brazilian traders. The finaly agreed upon formula made 'Paraiba' a gem-type, not a location, and fine Mozambique tourmalines became true Paraibas, costing thousands of dollars per carat (less than the originals but still more than any other tourmaline in the market). With Mozambique mines running empty these new Paraibas now go for ten(s) of thousands per carat. Fine Paraibas are like neon signs with eternaly self-loading batteries, like this. Our 0.89 here is reaching for those stars. Its images, indoors, daylight only, reproduce the power of these copper-driven gems just as seen in person. The special effect on the images, of one end seeming fresh green and the other end being Windex blue, or only the mid-section in blue, is real, as in person, a result of tourmaline's pleochroic properties. Not as expensive as true Paraiba but with a fair share of their legendary magic. 100% clean, precision cut, adored by a lively luster running up and down the innovative design. Comes with AIGS report, global delivery, rainforest protection and many WildFish extras. Best set in a white gold ring, so the owner can self-hypnotize as tiny movements produce rays of neon blue-green fire.
