Comment: When you see many shots under 'more images' it means either the color was hard to catch, or it was so beautiful I couldn't stop myself. Here it was a bit of both. This tourmaline was cut in such an unusual angle to the color axis (plural) that even the slightest turn, or change of viewpoint, brings out a different color. DSEF reported 'pink tourmaline' (not rubellite) and in daylight and front eye-view that may be correct, a copper-ish violet pink. Yet, I managed to catch this hue on camera only in the close-ups (see 'more images' and below). Please imagine this hue as the default body color. All other pictures show yellow, green, orange, golden rose pink, and any mixtures thereof. I would not have been surprised to get this tourmaline classified as 'multicolor'. Let's settle on 'multicolor pink'. The gem was hand-cut a long time ago and has suffered some surface damage, not visible to the eye but to the camera and there camouflaging as inclusions. We offer a free re-polish if desired. Five clean carats is a good size in tourmaline these days, and good unheated material cannot be easily passed over. An interesting gem to study the borderlines of multicolor, pleochroism and even color-change (lots of yellow in tungsten light, violet at day). Not a gem screaming for eyeballs but very charming at second sight, rewarding patience with its ever-changing aspects of color and shade.
