Comment: Looking at the images, and even more so in person, it is immediately obvious why this type of topaz has been named 'imperial' and is amongst the most expensive and rarest gemstone varieties in gem world, the big four or five aside. Within the topaz group, only untreated blue topaz can be equally valuable. These two gems were cut for each-other. Check the weight, or more importantly in pairs see the dimensions as listed above. With only a few single-digits of one-hundredth millimeters apart, the gems are virtually indistinguishable even for a pro. Because it is a miracle to cut gems so close to one-another and with such beauty, they have received an 'excellent' as cutting grade. The same is true for hue, tone, and clarity, all features in the best possible state and 100% identical to one-another. No windows, no treatments, no inclusions (3*Nos). With the pair comes a GIA certificate for one of the gems and a report from the company that did the pairing magic (not me, I must admit). If you are looking for a set of earrings in this size, these two may be the most perfect pair of untreated imperial topaz on the market. In the handshots below the crystal seems a bit cloudy but rest assured that is only the effect of condensation in cold weather (yes, we do have a bit of winter here).
