Comment: Paraiba tourmaline of exceptional size and quality in its natural form: neon purple. Only when deep-fried for a good while does it turn blue-green. In its natural habitat copper-colored elbaite tourmaline is THIS, and it is mind-boggling pretty. OK, I will admit neon blue paraiba is not bad either, not at all, but you know our point of view: We like gems the way nature made them, if we re-make them into something so very different, we cross a line and may as well use synthetics and spare nature the extraction process. This 10.48 classifies as precision cut, but the lapidary did his best to stay over 10 carats and chose to cut a cone shape instead of a perfect trillion with three equal sides. Therefore, the cutting grade came out as 'very good' instead of the 'excellent' which precision cuts commonly achieve. Inclusions-wise, it is a big gem and there are a few inclusions visible under the lens, plus an orange(!) needle that is eye-visible mainly from the side (which does not count as per common grading rules). Obviously, a perfect equal-three-sided trillion would increase luster and symmetry but not even Conny could not work the wonder of keeping 10 carats intact. If you don't care about carat numbers but perfection, a re-cut by Conny is free of charge for you. In a pendant, platinum should be an option, the round side would make a natural bottom. A word to its color beyond the images, there is blue in the purple, less no red, and thank God no grey nor brown, only the most intense purple. The finest AGL prestige report accompanies the gem, with WLT rainforest protection, animal rights lawyers and all WildFish perks. World-class gem in the heavy-weight league.

P.S. As an exception from the rule, this gem cannot be bought with a 33% newsletter vouchers.
