Overall Grade: Good+ 

Comment: Why did this good-looking, giant and clean amethyst gets only a miserly 'good+' as over-all grade? It was masterfully precision-cut, it's free of inclusions under the lens (not easy for almost 20mmx20mm). It glitters lively and sparkles with every movement, so why only a 'good'? Because its purple is too bright and without violet (or red). Bright purple easily looks monotone in amethyst and color is the name of the game. Our lapidary extracted the very best from the rough, but look at the 3rd image, in front of the bright background, that is a tempting lush purple, right? Almost as attractive as this here. Even if we would have shot every photo in that tone, you would have returned the gem (meh!) or thrown us off your 'evoked-set' (treble-meh!). Nothing deserves that risk in our slice of the market. Should you, on the other hand, be looking for an massive untreated pendant-gem within an affordable budget and with lots of luster - la voila (not a french keyboard)! A security-oriented, but not necessarily expensive, pendant with six prongs would pay for the color you didn't want in the first place.
