Comment: Here is a gem for the collecting gemologist: color changing scapolite cat's eye, green at day, brown in mixed light, pale orange yellow under tungsten light plus a ray under a single light source. A challenge for any rock-hound and we may wrong with our analysis, without lab test we can only report what we feel is correct but an in-depth analysis with a full testing-site may conclude differently. In any case a rare gem in any collection. Forgive the missing hand-shot, either age or too much coffee produced no un-shaky handshot at the time.
P.S. The unusual circumstances of this year, personal and in general, have so far hindered us from getting lab reports done, although I dare hope this will change by late May when I have the opportunity to visit Antwerp in person. The price here quoted is EXCLUDING our usual certificate. If you like to have a lab report for this garnet we need to add between $100 for a full IGI report. A $1,000 premium AIG report seems out of dimensions for a 'normal' almandine. But it too, would need a good deal extra time (currently over 12 weeks, sigh).
